Covid-19 update as of April 15,2020

Dear friend of Girls Choral Academy,

In this challenging and unusual time, as we follow the recommendations of Governor Whitmer to “Stay Home, Stay Safe” to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we have suspended all programming and events until it is safe for our students and families to gather. We have also cancelled our “Raise Your Voice” March
fundraiser, as well as our trips to Nashville and Chicago, local performances, and college visits. We are hopeful that the pandemic will be over before too long and that we can continue to plan our Spring Concert for late May or June.
We will continue to monitor and respond to the recommendations of the  US Center for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC) and  Michigan Department of Health and Human Services  (MDHHS).

While our choirs are not currently meeting in person, we are scheduling virtual
rehearsals with our choirs as well as posting daily online content to singers, so kids can listen and learn and continue to feel connected and optimistic. We continue to make plans for the summer and next season, and will make adjustments as needed to keep our students safe.

For the past 12 months, the GCA has been involved with the Grand Rapids Arts Working
Group, which represents a collective of twenty Grand Rapids-based arts and culture organizations. This collaborative and community-facing working group now allows us to speak with a shared voice regarding the challenges posed by COVID-19, the role the arts can play in supporting our community, and steps we can take to ensure the continued vibrancy of arts and culture in West Michigan. Please read our joint statement HERE.

We treasure all of you, and urge you to take the precautions to protect you and your family as detailed at . We look forward to making more beautiful music together soon. When this is all over, we can’t wait to practice social nearness!
